October 16th: CEEC take counsel together
The Church of England Evangelical Council (CEEC) gathered at High Leigh, for 24 hours for its yearly conference, which once again provided a time for refreshment and challenge.
At the heart of the conference were Bible readings given by the Revd Chris Green when he spoke on 2 John and 3 John.
In a Press Release issued today by the Revd Peter Breckwoldt, he writes "In our 24 hours together we explored a range of issues affecting evangelicals across the country. The delegates came from the evangelical family to look at the impact of FCA (Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans), the Mellitus College and prison ministry.
In addition, there were reports and resolutions considered by the Council.
The Ven Michael Lawson gave a brief report on his visit to the Episcopal Evangelical Assembly in the USA; and there was a constructive discussion about women Bishops and evangelical unity, when representatives of both Awesome and Reform shared their tentative steps for greater understanding.
The Chairman of CEEC, the Ven Michael Lawson, Archdeacon of Hampstead, said, “This was a highly valuable time of listening and learning together about some of God’s work among evangelicals. It was underpinned by prayer and listening to the word of God.”
Set out here are the resolutions that were passed by CEEC:
